 Latest update, November 30th

Will it opened late last night and expended today. Two blooms going to be four on this stalk. I have one picture with flash and one in natural light.

The first picture is the first bloom on the Christmas cactus for November 2009.

These other  two are the progress of 2009 amaryllis. See if you think the tall one will reach the ceiling before blooming.

This will be blooming tomorrow, I'll get a picture.

We started today. Sandy and I planted fifteen bulbs each in five large plastic containers and gave ten more to our neighbor.  We still have a hundred and fifteen left from the first shipment with forty more scheduled to arrive Tuesday. In the spring, we will be rewarded with a profusion of beautiful and glorious blossoms. It is so much fun being in the garden. I wish everyone could have a day like this. In this picture , you can see that I sprinkled cayenne pepper on top to retard the squirrels.

I potted up five giant amaryllis bulbs today November 1st. Last year , I potted them on November 9th and got the first bloom on Christmas Day. Hopefully I will have several blooming this Christmas.
