We are expected to experience freezing temperatures in the early mornings for the next three or four days. If that does become reality, the dynamics of my gardening will also change. I don't look at these changes as a negative. I have learned to enjoy each day as it comes. We are positioning ourselves for winter, planning which plants will come inside and which ones will stay out for as long as they can. I took a couple of pictures today that I feel will bring some enjoyment to someone besides me.
This is Morris relaxing on Sandy's lap as she reads a magazine.
I also photographed this passionflower bloom that opened in the afternoon. There are a few more buds in the developmental stage. It will be interesting to see if they survive the cold of the next few days.
I'll be seeing you. I'm being called to supper. You all have a great day and happy gardening. Bill Mitchell
We had a nice day of rain yesterday and the sun came out in all it's glory today. I grabbed my camera and went searching for some beauty to share with all my friends. There are some things giving up to the weather and season, but there is still some that are hanging on. The first are the mushrooms marching in cadence for the enjoyment of the group of spectators. Probably family.
The rock garden is coming to the end of it's first year and is going strong.
The Gnome is always on the job watering and caring for his container gardener.
No w I've found more color in the front garden. Angelica, mums, salvia and others.
I've always avoided Zinnias because of the fungus, but this year I put cornmeal in the soil and I am now a lover of these persistent bloomers.
I can't say enough about Cannas. I think these guys are going to be blooming in the dead of winter. No the first killing frost will get them.
Well, it's been a pleasure putting this blog together for all of you. Y'all have a great day and happy gardening. The Hillbilly
It just seems that I said the trees haven't changed colors about a week ago. Opps, they have now. Here are some photos that I took a few minutes ago on my trip down to the lake. It's a sun filled day and warm for this time of the year.
Look how the sun shines on the ripples in the water.
Our road ends with a primitive ramp at the end into the lake.
A yellow wild flower sparkles in the autumn sun.
The ride back up the hill to our house is also filled with autumn beauty.
And around the back of the loop.
This Toad Lily is worth waiting for it's bloom in the autumn.
I am so happy to be able to share these beautiful scenes with all of you. Have a great day and happy gardening. Bill Mitchell
