I live in N. E. Pa and am wondering if anyone here may know the type of milk weed common to this area. Last year I spread some (actually more like a pile of) seeds around the back of my yard and I would like to find out what the plant looks like at first so I don't kill it.
My thinking was to attract butterflies and lighting bugs since I live in town and there aren't many places for these animals to live, I'm from the country and love to watch them over the summer.
I have however learned that some species of the plant (which there are many of) are extremely toxic, and now I'm wondering if I should be getting rid of it instead of helping it grow. I cannot remember the color or shape of flower, only the pods that I used to love to play with as a kid.
If any one has any info it would be very much appreciated (and it would also save me the time of going through every variety)
Thanks,
