It's a sunny one too! We will be off for the pancake breakfast now.....just wanted to say hi.....off to the cemetery after that for the service there! Enjoy the day and thank a veteran for serving! Birdie :)
May 26, 2010 | 11:37 AM PST for the 26th of May! Monday night we had a very nice rain shower and yesterday was calm and nice and not so hot........today is in the 80's and gorgeous! Had that ole flu bug Sunday night and Monday....but doing fine again now. I worked this morning and noticed my stamina was not quite up to par, so I thought I would take it easy this afternoon, and go back in the morning again. What gorgeous blooms around these parts. Seem like the snow cover did wonders for everything that blooms this time of year.......perhaps the cooler spring had some effect on it as well. Anyway my lupine, columbines, blue flax, primrose, and iris were gorgeous this year..........full of blooms! I noticed my beans are beginning to break ground and I spotted two zinnias sprouting too.......Oh boy........what fun to watch the germination to bloom and then the fresh veggies come on and "do their thing"! That is why we like gardening.........right? :) Just thought it was time to catch up a bit once again.........Happy gardening all. Birdie
Well it is nice to finally see the sun again LATE in the day! We had a week of cloudy weather and rainy days and so it is GREAT to se a bit of clear blue sky. Supposed to warm to nearly 70 tomorrow and that will feel GREAT! Because of all the cool and wet weather.......the tulips stayed long enough for the Tulip Festival in our nearby town. I was there this morning to go to the court house for markers for hubby for our Memorial Day events. He is putting the markers at the respective graves right now. It is windy...so I stayed where it is warmer. :) My irises are slowly opening and also my columbines. I love the different shapes and colors of the columbines. It is one of my favorites.. My bleeding heart is still looking nice.....surprisingly so with all of WINDY days. I hope to be able to plant my tomato seedlings soon ...they are barely seedlings any more...they are getting taller..but still look very healthy and not lanky. I enjoyed a Chinese lunch with my friend today.......nice to see her once again! Friends are wonderful aren't they? Enjoy your garden blooms everyone! Love to all you gardening friends. Birdie

A windy day here in Iowa........with times of sprinkles and sometimes a bit of rain falling for just a bit.......then the sun comes out to tease us.....our high today....50 degrees.......with a very cold northwest wind........could freeze or get close to it tonight. I took my flower pouch and hanging pail inside for tonight. I will also cover my begonia outside in my concrete planter. Too heavy to carry inside! Added some more pictures of my bleeding heart and I have a tulip bouquet inside.....
...it will be the last of them I am afraid. All of the tulips in our ORange City Tulip Festival ought to be pretty near to finihsed blooming.........although our very cool temps do keep them blooming a bit more than the warmer temps would. My first iris bloom opened today........It is a lavender color. I will post a picure later when more are open as well. I love those iris...although it is one that missed my digging up episode 3 years or so ago.......now I am glad it missed out.....as it is growing each year with beautiful blooms. I have acquired a couple more irises from a friend ....now trying to determine where to put it.....Also a globe thistle........I will find a spot........I know! Off to Ladies night out at our church tonight. Fun and food and fellowship. Shouid be lots of fun.. :) Take care everyone........enjoy the springtime blooms! Birdie
