cosmos......mums..robins..fall football bath this morning. Our first.....yep it got cold enough to make just a slight layer of ice. Now not sure I am ready for ice! It was a lovely day though.......took mom shopping for her new jacket and sweater.......she was pleased. We enjoyed our time together. Watched the robins sit on my deck railing and make a pitiful mess over it........I really can't wait for the robins to leave for now....I am sick of hosing off the railing twice a day .......or more! I love birds but not necessarily fond of their poopy messes. :( I did see a flock of juvinile cedar wax wings again this afternoon. They have that tell talke mark of yellow on the tips of their tails. I had not seen them in years.......so welcome their brief return. Cosmos are still blooming and so I took some inside to enjoy. My mums are looking bright and perky for the fall days too. I took a few pictures of them and put them in my photos along with some fall pics...Waiting to hear if our grandson's team won his football game tonight. We didn't want to travel an hour and a half to see it....so here we are.....waiting.......and waiting anxously! They have only had one loss this season..so hopefully they will be in the winning column tonight. Haven't been around too much lately.......Hope all are enjoying the fall season as much as I am........Till later..........Birdie :)
this morning! However it was a light frost with frosty windshields and frost on rooftops. However there was also frost on the blankets covering my peppers. So I am glad I covered them. No frost on the covering of my begonia.......It is right next to the house and under the eaves.....but still glad I did.....as I think I will try and save it until next year. I put the bulbs in the cellar in some sawdust and it seems to work well. It is a pretty orange on this year and it has outdone itself with lots of blooms and so look forward to that again next summer. Our temp was 34.9 this morning and you think that frost appears at 32 degrees? I never can figure that out....but there also was frost right on our lawn.....as I skidded across it when uncovering the peppers! Now we look forward to some nice warm sunny days again.....I dare to hope for that. I took my impatiens pouch inside and so I hope it still can have a few more days of bloom. Well everyone.....enjoy this autumn day...Sun is starting to peek here.....:) Birdie in Iowa
