Happy Thanksgiving from Iowa to all of your homes in every state in this great USA. It looks to be a sunny one if it stays the way it looks now. We are off to church soon to offer our thanks to God for every good thing we enjoy! I always am thankful of course for family, home, health, freedoms we enjoy and most of all for my Lord and Savior who gives me salvation. Praising Him today.. God bless you all! "Birdie"
Boy is it warm this morning! 50 degrees is something not so often experienced in Iowa this time of Nov. But it is great.......Cloudy though and it is so warm that the street is sweating.. Maybe a chance of light showers later in the day. Dol. Gen. truck came later in the afternoon yesterday, and so I went to work at 5:30 and came home at 9:20. Hubby was nearly ready for bed by that time. His early morning walks seem to earn him the right to retire to bed early. :) Yesterday afternoon we heard our school football team lose to another GREAT team for the State Championship of Iowa. This team had won 41 games before they played........now it is 42. They were great but our team did score........which was an accomplishment. They had a great year with this being their first loss........Runner up in State is not a bad way at all. We are proud of them all. The birds are feeding at the bird feeders. It is fun to watch them. A Happy Thanksgiving to each and all! "Birdie"

A good sunny afternoon to all of you gardeners. It is a beautiful day here.......warm ...being in the low 50's with lots of sunshine to fill our Nov. day. I just love this time of year more and more each year it seems. Did a couple of errands this morning and did the laundry and even washed some rugs. I have them drying on the clothesline as it is a great day for that. Our supper plans have been changed for this evening.......and hubby and I are looking forward to a quiet evening at home. :) It will be our first night this week........so it is a welcome relief.......I guess Home is always the best place isn't it? We do enjoy all of the activities of our grandchildren too. Last night we enjoyed our youngest grandson's band concert. He plays the tuba, and is in the 6th grade. After the very short 5th and 6th grade concert, we went to their home and enjoyed some popcorn and coffee and had a very nice visit. With things being so busy in ours and their lives...it is not often enough that we get to spend time with them.......so it was a great night. Mom and I had enjoyed our day together too and she thanked me profusely.......so it was a great day all around. Today I am looking forward to a chat with my girlfriend from Ohio on Yahoo Mess. It has been so great to get to know her and we have so much in common and share gardening love as well as just an all around friendship. God is good and blessed our friendship immensely.. So I guess I better scoot along and finish my folding before our chat.. God bless you all and don't forget to thank someone special in your life today.. Warmly........"Birdie"
Frosty here this morning. 26 degrees for our low....hoping the sun will shine some today too. It's been a big and busy week here. Hubby's VFW did the pancake Benefit on Veterans Day with a great turnout of over 300 people coming to donate and enjoy some pancakes, sausage and eggs. They were very pleased with the success of it. Lots of work........but worth it. It will help fund some veterans to a trip to see theMemorials in Washington D. C. :) The farmers have the beans harvested.......but doing the corn harvest will take longer. Due to the huge harvest...they can't go their usual speed with the combine....so they have to go much slower. Great blessing though.....as crops are going well over what they normally do. I heard over 200 bushels an acre is very commmon! :) Do you realize that we are only a week and a half before Thanksgiving Day? I can't believe how fast time goes. I love this time of year and being thankful is something none of us can do enough. Having a thankful heart helps no only our well being.......but those around us, and most of all our Lord loves to hear us be thankful for all of our blessings. Well it is time to go to church here soon...so I hope you all have a wonderful week. Blessings... Birdie

It is a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. This morning we already were visited by my daughter and grandson out doing his trapping. He wanted to show his catch this morning. 3 raccoons and 2 mink. He loves to do it and is actually pretty good. Last season he had a good season. The farmers love that he helps rid the critters that damage their fields. His mom loves to go along as well. I might post pictures later in the photo section. After church we will go to my parents and spend the afternoon. Then I have choir practice at church for the upcoming Christmas program. I know it sounds early but then to get the entire program in line....all grades and adult choir.....takes alot of time and effort for everyone involved. Looks like a nice stiff breeze/wind for today, combined with the sunshine makes for a great "drying day" for the famers. :) Most every one has their soybeans harvested........and are working on combining that corn now. Great crop.......Praise the Lord for that! Have a great Sunday all. Yours.. "Birdie"

It's a beautiful clear and sunny day today! :) Our truck did not come in so far and is expected later and so I won't be going in to work until 6 a.m. Monday morning. So this morning I dug my canna and glad bulbs and have them drying for awhile now. It was a bit wet.....but I just did it and took as much dirt off as possible and put them to dry. I also dug my carrots.......I was amazed how big some were.......all planted at the same time and some were smaller and one huge one measured at 9 1/2 inches in length. It is a keeper!! (photo in my photo section. We usually do have good carrots as our ground here is sandy and they seem to like that. I also took out my two last planters. Each had a lisanthus in it.....and the top would frost bitten.......however both had green leaves at the base of the plant.....so I took both and placed them in a pot and will try to keep it over the winter for next year.// I have no clue whether it will work or not. No threat for frost tonight and so I am keeping in on the patio until then. We have a supper/auction tonight for our church mission program, and so our Helping Hand circle is doing the sloppy joes, coneys and pies.... so I must be there by 4:30........always fun.. I love those sloppy joes and coneys........YUMMY.. Til later..........God bless each of you........"Birdie"

Another day has gone.............:) Started off with my yearly physical this morning.......all well on that note. To work again for a couple of hours putting some more of the 900 cases on the shelf.......started to drip/snow...at about noon.........cloudy the remainder of the day........don't think it stopped the farmers though. :) Had a quick lunch and went back to work to pick up some things and then I worked another hour.......and came on home. Ironed a bit and watched some Dr. Phil........showed parents of a 19 yr. old who was addicted to drugs and dealt some to pay for his habit........Parents really loved the boy to death nearly...He brought the teen out and asked him to look into the eyes of mom and dad and tell Dr. Phil what he saw........"Pain" ...."hurt" he said. Parents expressed their love for him..........tears flowly on both the parents and son's faces.....it was so touching....at the end he offered the son treatment.......and he accepted readily........:) Quite a moving program.......I cried too....just to think how those parents instead of really intervening with the son at the first time of use.....instead tried to help him on his own.....He was very MUCH ADDICTED ........I hope that he will be able to get his life turned around....I pray it is so.... Went to the Norwex party and had a nice time with my good friend afterwards too. Chinese Proverb........"Do not use a hatchet to remove a fly from your friend's forehead .....So now it is time to say GOOD NIGHT ALL..........God bless.......Birdie
Whew........today was a long day it seemed........went to work at 6 a.m. and worked until noon....Made some lunch for hubby and me and did dishes and went back to work until 3.......then ran to pharmacy for cough syrup for hubby's dad and delivered that.....ran another errand and came home. Crashed in the recliner for awhile and relaxed a bit until the door bell rang and it was the vacuum lady delivering my dust brush.....a new one.......I lieterally wore out the old one.......tonight after supper ran to grocery store with hubby to order a couple of cases of syrup for the VFW Pancake Feed on Veterans Day.......came home and did she dishes again......made some apple dumplings. Watched a bit of tv.......then came on here and now I am thinking it is time for bed........quite a boring day I know.....oh yeah........can't forget the Harvest Moon of tonight...........SO BIG.......SO CLEAR..........so beautiful! Oh I forgot to mention that I did a scrapping page of OH SPACIOUS BEAUTIFUL SKY! Had some blue sky pics I wanted to put in the album along with some with pink tinges in the clouds from sunrise.........turned out quite nicely! Love to scap this time of year........want to get my glad bulbs dug but it is just too wet as of now....perhaps later in the week if we keep having sunny days! YEAH.......good night all.........Sleep well..........God Bless you........Birdie
