Hello fellow gardners, i am wondering if there is a way we can add to the herb resources on the site.....the herb fact sheets are sorely lacking....basil is not even on there!! i should like to help and i don't know what i need to do? can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Hello friends, just want to say I am sooooo tired of watering my plants....i just want some R-A-I-N to fall in Marietta, Georgia! I good long thunderstorm if necessary, we need it soooo bad. zI have a lot of potted plants, which i usually have to water daily anyway, but it's so dry i've had to water EVERYTHING several times a week! Have to be careful when i water, too, as we have a schedule...
Oh and not only water, we need some gasoline trucks to hit the local stations, it's been awful with most of the stations being out of gas for almost a week now. I was lucky the other day and saw one had some gas and zipped in, no line! I only got a half a tank 'cause that's all i need, i don't live far from work, and i figure hey, others have to have gas too! It's been pretty wild! One girl said, i have enough to get home, but i may not get to come to work tomorrow....! It's pretty ridiculous but it sure has taught some of us better conservation! LOL!
with that said, i went and swept the leaves off my porch steps that are falling early due to lack of water, the poor trees want some water too! Not to mention all the wildlife, i leave little bowls of water around for the chipmonks and the squirrels and opposums and raccoons.....and the birdbaths are filled too. Hope my pecan trees do ok, last year they did not do too well because of the drought.....and it's been pretty dry this year too. Ok now i'm just rambling, all ya'll have a good evening and happy gardening dreams!

Well, when i arrived home from work, i had already decided to work in the yard. What i did not know was, so had my next-door neighbors! They were pulling out all the irises and other sundries to put in rosemaries. Since they bought the house about 6 months ago, they have done much to it. Now it seems the yard is on the agenda!! I, of course, being the scavenger i am, took all of the irises home with me after seeking permission! They were going to THROW THEM AWAY if you can believe it!!! I have already potted most of them up and will allow them to sit in a protected area until farmer's market next spring. I can probably get a few coins for them! I also planted a good many beside my driveway after amending the soil a bit with peat moss. Then the cute little couple from down the street walked by with their dog and ended up taking one home with them! They are trying to buy a house, and will have a few plants to start with when they do! so then it got dark on me, and i had to come in.....the days are getting shorter, and fall is in the air. I am going to miss the long days and playing in the yard.....but i will catch up on my reading and dream of spring!
