It is really blowing now. Thankfully I went around and got all the dandelions out of the buffalo grass in the back the other day. Think I'll start my squash and pumpkins inside besides of course working from home. They are shutting down some of the highways.
A BLIZZARD WARNING has been posted for the Denver metro area and all of northeastern Colorado through 6 a.m. Friday.
Total snowfall across metro Denver will range from 10 to 18 inches by 9:00 a.m. Friday.
We really needed this snow and I'm glad that it is now since non of the trees have leaves yet, just buds. About 4 years ago the area lost a lot of trees with a really late spring blizzard and lots of wet snow. It was really sad.
The birds are keeping us company today with lots of feeding going on. Put out some fruit for the robin on the front porch and she was out there for a bit nibbling. Sure she will be back now.
Stopped by Lowe's to get some pea inoculate - they didn't have any. But managed to pick up some Jiffy pots and some Lily of the Valley plants. Would really like to get my peas in the ground tomorrow but not going to be able to make it down to the garden center until Saturday. I'm going to try doing this with the peas: (well, meant to put the link here but can't find it... I'll post it later but it is basically bamboo poles in a tent shape with netting on both sides.)
So I did a little bit in the backyard but felt like the birds wanted their evening meal so I went inside without getting much done outside.
Got most of the little seed starting pellets into pots. I can't believe no one else is growing Joey Ptilotus.... Anyone? Bueller?
Boy did I hit the lottery on Saturday. Went to the local H.D. because a friend said that she picked up some whisky barrel liners for $5. I thought I would get one for carrots which my daughter suddenly wants to grow. I couldn't find any so I asked and garden worker showed me over there and she started shifting through them and there was one different one and it was tagged at $18 but she went to go check the price and it was something out of stock that should have been pulled so she told me I get it for one cent - YES .01 WOOHOO
Then I saw this lady getting a bunch of this mushroom compost that was on sale for $1.70 a bag which I think is a really good price per bag. So a I pick up about 4 bags. When I get to the register the lady told that cashier that she got charged $4.50 a bag but the sign said 1.70 and I confirmed. Well, they didn't have the right tag up there so her and I scored on the compost!!!!
I saved over $20!!!! LOL That was my lottery moment.
Started a few wintersowing milk jugs yesterday. I'll check them when I get home from work.
1. Harden off the sweet peas (that I started way too early, heehee)
2. Do a lasagna bed
3. Buy a composter
4.Transplant some more of the seedlings (the cloud grass, bunny tails, rest of the tomatoes, all the peppers and the gazanias. Rest of them are too small to need it yet).
5. make my pea teepee - plant it - plant the peas (different part of garden then where I'm going to do the lasagna bed)
6. Start a rooting of the pussy willow ( It probably only has a couple of years left so need another one ready to transplant in its place.
7. Cut back the raspberries
8. Keep weeding (and grassing so to say in some areas - I'm starting to hate grass - it is growing all over the place in my planting spots)
Well, that is just the first 8 of about a 100 I'm sure I can think of.....
Pinewood Derby tomorrow so not as much time outside as I would like.

I know I've got it bad when while driving to lunch I see a landscape crew with a bunch of bags of pine needles and leaves that I have to pull over and ask for a bag. At least my aspens will love me. I think if I had a open bed truck I would have taken all the bags.........
