I grew up on a farm, I am growing some veggies right now (have some radishes going NUTS right now) but I like to Bonsai. Since I am no longer on a farm it is nice to just grow something 'just because' :D Here is am example, granted this is a rental but there will be a lot of these seeds not only going with me but going to several people around the states (at least when the seed pod dries!). My Mom-in-Law told me the trick to these wonderful flowers. You HAVE to let the pod dry, completely. Collect the seeds and keep them in the garage (or similar) for the entire winter. Sow with just a tad of dirt over them in the early spring, past frost. Simple. Then you get these!

Once there was a Peony, my honeys Peony. This was part of her Grandmothers so it is understandable that she would be so attached to it. It went with her several places over the last 8 years. It landed in the ground in one spot for about 2 of those years, the last couple. It bloomed when she first had it but has not yet...so we went and got it out of it's last home not too long ago when we moved into our new house. It sat in this ugly falling apart wooden bucket for a couple weeks, then I put it in a pot of it's own, to stay for a long long time as I think it likes it there. Just a few weeks it has sat there in it's new pot...transplanted twice, not too nicely I might add...and it did this. Yes, we were meant to be together, the Peony says so...

So, my little patch o'grass will start to become something next weekend...ok maybe the NEXT. My Partner has a garden fork she left at an ex's...it was amicable so we are going to go pick it up next weekend and that will REALLY save my back...this patch is solid grass so will take a LOT of work, not to mention moving the tulip bulbs! The other thing we are going to do is there is a Peony planted there that was part of my Partners Grandmothers so we are retrieving that as well and we will probably pot it in a big pot for ease of transport until we get our own house, rather than renting (and she can move it easier if she decides to dump me ;) )
