For the first time in many moons, I was able to get something done in my yard. We have a big backyard that we're finally able to start planting and planning, since we have well water now (I wouldn't want to have to pay for that much city water!).
Hubby and I planted climbing roses today to grow over the fence (cattle panels). We now have 14 climbing roses on the two sides that get the most sun - 4 Joseph's Coat, 2 Royal Gold, 2 America, 2 Golden Showers, 2 Climbing Peace, and 2 Blaze. This seems like a lot, but we spaced them about 8 feet apart, with one big empty space on one side that gets too much shade. Hopefully (crossing fingers and planning to buy more Bayer rose treatment soon), they'll take off and provide some coverage for the fence. I also plan to put in some clematis to wind around with the roses.
Now I just have to figure out what to put in the shady areas that would grow well on the fence.
