The morning was spent mostly in the high 30s. By mid-afternoon however the sun worked its way out and the temperature pushed 49º. Walking near a flower bed, noticed this bee toiling hard among the violets.

In late April few ornamental shrubs have the curb appeal of the bright yellow petals of a forsythia. We observed this flowering plant while taking a stroll on the Owasco Lake pier at Emerson Park yesterday.

The first Fall after we moved into our home we planted a handful of tulip bulbs. Faithfully every spring these red tulips have been making us smile as we look out the living room window.

Before we moved into the neighborhood three decades ago, Virgie planted a magnolia tree in her front yard. Each year Perrine Street residents look forward to its magnificent blooming.
This year was a very good year. Conditions were almost ideal. No frigid spring weather. No late spring frost. Ample warming sun.
Virgie's magnolia provided an emphatic “yes” to our yearly spring question.

Returning from my morning walk, a flash of color caught my eye while passing Lori’s weathered stockade fence. Pausing for closer inspection there appeared a most unusual flower.

For awhile there it seemed we were never going to shake winter off. Then amazingly last weekend the skies cleared and the mercury on the thermometer rose.
First crocus and grape hyacinths then daffodils which were quickly followed by tulips rose out of the rested earth and colored the flower beds.
