Greetings, hope your week is going well. Wanted to share another first...I've had this Arum for over 5 years and never had any success getting it to bloom.
I'm thinking it's been all the rain we've gotten and that it's nestled in with the creeping jenny and geraniums. Just the bud for now.
Remember those beautiful heirloom iris?? Well they are doing something odd, no...they are not saying ''feed me''.
But, some have produced more than one bud in the same spot...you'll just have to look at the images. Has this ever happened to you??? This is a first for me, no sign of bugs or disease. The second buds are not opening completely. Most likely not enough energy after the first one.
Here is a plant I got at the Luther Burbank Gardens about three years ago. What a great plant...so many pups, enough to share with friends and then some.
This weekend was good, our first Wullenjohn Iris opened in front..these are from Rick's grandparent's farm in Morrilton. Ak. It no longer stands, but we have the family kitchen table, these Iris and a cactus that they grew.
I also found an old picture of my garden goddess or diva...the creeping jenny is just right for her, what do you think??
Hope you all have a good week. For the folks in the states that were hit so hard by the tornadoes and floods, our prayers are with you all.
The battle goes on between me and those cats....mulch has not helped, the grids do. This week I added more garden soil, relayed the grids and planted the 'turbo' thyme in every other grid square along the edge of the walkway. This may do the job (^_^)
It has done so well in the backyard and I love the lavender flowers in bloom right now. It's very hardy - loves our summer heat, doesn't need a lot of water and can be stepped on. Easy to manage and trim away from our plants, although I don't think they hinder them much.
Here are some pics of the front grids and thyme, there is thyme there already from last year. Then the thyme in an area in the back. The last pic is the Clivia in bloom, one of my mom's favorite flower. They like to be pot bound and in the shade in ground. They don't need a lot of water either. Which is an issue here.
Hope everyone is having a good week. Wishing you all well (^_~)
