While cleaning out my planter and beds, I am always pulling sprouts that either the Jays or Crows buried the year before.
This is the second one I've pulled...the first one was in one of my planters. This was in my garden bed in front, both the same.
Can anyone tell us what it is?? Rick thinks pecan...I'm not sure....but our area had lots of nut orchards long, long ago. There are a few left and some folks have one in their yards through out town.
Well, looks like I'll be crocheting and packing boxes for sure. Our Spring rains are here and will be for a few days. Can't complain...makes everything green and brings out the flowers everywhere.
Here is our little home in the 'burbs'..between the Spring showers. We're dry 'n comfy...most likely we'll have a log in the fireplace tonight.
Happy Monday!! Know some of you enjoyed finally working in your gardens, I learned a new crochet stitch, lol.
I'm happy to say we woke up to clear skies and I got a few shots of the setting moon! Granted it wasn't in it's full glory, but still good detail and large. It set over the house across the street in the West.
Here is the best of three...I couldn't take anymore, lol Rick chased me back in because my hair was wet. This was taken about 7:25 AM
As I write the sun is breaking through the clouds behind us and shining on the new leaves of our neighborhood trees. The spring green pops out against the dark clouds in front.
Here are two shots I took earlier, the first of the sun on the trees. Soon after there was a short downpour and while downloading some pics, a neighbor and his two little girls were taking a walk. I could not resist...this is Spring.
It's raining, windy and we will not be able to view the full moon...wah, wah wah!
But....I have my little miracles to make me smile. The first is from our front window, by the sidewalk...creeping jenny, lavender scabiosas and freesias beginning to flower. Love the colors
The second is a cutting from my grape ivy rosy geranium..this will go to Aurora.
So, my red one blooms between Thanksgiving and Christmas, this white one blooms for Spring and sometimes for Autumn. Then again, our moon is so close this time around, who knows? Either way, I'm always happy when it blossoms.
We get one or two hummers, I lucked out with this shot in 2006. I couldn't believe it, the little guy stopped and looked right at me and waited for me to take the picture! I have more, but I have to size them down. They like our Aloe flower spikes.
Love the hummer sanctuary you have..my favorite pic has to be the one of the little guy perching on you finger (^_^)
Here are two plants that bloom at night...the Cereus flower last almost two days...the orchid cactus, one night. We stay up when there are buds on this one. They have almost the same fragrance
Cereus
Orchid Cactus ~ the flame effect happened when a breeze moved it as I took this shot
Hey!! the full moon this weekend will be large...the moon will be really close to us...Please!!! if you have a clear sky take some pics and post them...not sure if we'll get rain this weekend, hoping we'll have clear skies so I can get some shots.
Zoom in and use your flash...I've had really good luck this way...wishing you well (^_~)
Greetings...in a previous blog I mentioned Rick was downloading our old digital pics from floppies to our portable drive? Well, here are two sets of before and after. Backyard and Front walkway to our door. If you notice the house across the street, our house is the same model.
Did my Rick give great space for my plants or what (^_^) The tree is a Pyrus
Too cold, windy and wet to play outside. You've already potted your seeds and seedlings are beginning to sprout. Been through every seed catalog you have, but you still can't play outside.

Hi everyone...hope you're all well and Spring is beginning to with that 'tug of war'. I've been packing up my craft room and we came across about 100 of those 'floppy' discs and Rick is going through all of them transferring all the pictures to my portable drive. He came across the pictures of our yard in the early 2000!! Wow, did he change our look. I will probably make an album this weekend to share. Right now I'm still going through that room, we're going to move the big stuff around and the shelves, drawers and other small items have to be emptied and packed.
Have done a little yard work, but we're getting spring rains this week...hopefully I'll get a chance to clear the leaves, the seeds I scattered last fall are beginning to sprout.
Greetings, hope everyone had a good weekend. Didn't get to clear the leaves, Rick needed help bringing home four 14' boards to finish a project. He rented a U haul to bring them home and then took all the sod and dirt he remove for the walkway to our city dump.
All I got to do was water and feed the planters that have been in frost free areas. I did get to plant some African daisies in a cement planter between our new walkway and the tree.
Hopefully, this weekend I'll be able to clean out the leaves and plant those dahlias!
My gosh the weather has been lovely, even with the little bit of rain we got.
My three amaryllis seem to be doing well, hopefully they'll bloom.
My sweet peas are sprouting, the iris and pink ladies bulbs are leafing and the lantana has flowered a little.
I hope to clear our little beds and plant some dahlias, also bought some lovely hybrid shasta daisies that will go in a pot by our new walkway. Hope there are breaks between our rainy days.
This is going on through out our neighborhoods and it a sure sign Spring is settling in...we have rains in the forecast, but that's Spring too
The young couple who bought the house have done a wonderful job on their trees and gardens. All the hummingbirds hang out in their backyard...some still visit us. Haven't seen any yet, but it won't be long now
