Below is a shot of an altar Aurora set up for Day of the Dead, many of you know this is done to remember those we've lost and that we too will pass through the door that leads us to a better place...cemeteries are lit, graves cleaned and decorated with flowers and some favorite favors of the dead. In the home an altar is made with pictures, flowers, candles and other remembrances. It's really a festive event celebrating life and death.
On the left side are my Dad, my Aunt and my Mom in front. On the right, my Dad in law and David's mom (Aurora's guy).
Think of only the warm, happy and fun times with those that have left us.
It's been nice for me...after finishing my physical therapy...I'm helping out at school as a back up yard duty. It's been nice being back and knowing I've been missed, even by the students. The walking has been good for me, I forgot to mention, I'm driving again too. Both my therapist and doctor agreed that the more I stay active the better...I'm very happy.
But, here are some pics of what's going on in our little garden.
Here is a start on our fall decor...dried items from our little garden.
Our Mexican Sage is in flower and the hummers are loving it
Another plant that came up this year...a slow grower and I don't know what it is
And our little lot without our lovely trees...but new ideas are in the works
Have a good week everyone!! Wishing you well (^_~)
First, I can't believe this rainy weather coming sooner...but it's suppose to be in the low 80's next week and then at the end of the month it will stay cooler. Crazy California weather
Another example of our crazy state. I've been wanting to post these two lawn buddies all year, but kept forgetting to take a picture of them during my walks. These are around the corner and down a few house from us. It's pretty neat when one is in bloom...as you can see they are healthy specimens. But it made me smile to see even a difference in the lawns.
Put up some simple arrangements on our front window shelves, these were made from 'love in the mist' pods, dry watsonia leaves and crocosmia yellow 'n orange seed pods. But I came across a bag with stems of pods and a lot of these red seeds.
Do any of you know what this could be from??? Thanks ahead of time...here's the seeds and seed stalk (no it's not part of that cactus, lol) .
