Hi everyone, how are you tonight? I hope this finds everyone well. I hope everybody's garden is growing and blooming as they should!
Just wanted to let you know that everything is going well in my garden. I now have tons of tomatoes, basil, sage, thyme, dill, scallions, radish, carrots, peas, strawberries and my coleus is growing beautifully!! I only have 1 green pepper so far and my broccoli raab is so far so good. I haven't had to really water the garden because we seem to be getting overnight showers almost every night so that saves me the water. I am waiting for my tomatoes to turn red. I posted here about it and was told not to water them and when I told my husband he told me that I have to water them. I don't know what to believe. This is the first time I have ever had more than 5 or 6 tomatoes. I have like 20 roma's, about 15 cherry and like 20 grape tomatoes. I am just waiting. Any other suggestions would be helpful. One person tells me to stop watering them so they will ripen and another person tells me to continue watering them so they get bigger and they will ripen on their own. Which one is true, false or are they both wrong????? Questions, questions, questions!!
See everybody later. I have to get my dinner out of the oven now.
Take care all, Byeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hey all, I just wanted to pop on over and let everyone know that I have been very busy with the boys battling illness after illness and now I have an ear ache that is killing me and I am going to the doctor for today.
Everything in my garden is growing wonderfully. I have tons of tomatoes and strawberries that are not quite ready for picking. So far I have lots of herbs and 1 green pepper that is getting bigger everyday. My carrots, peas, radish, broccoli raab and more herbs are growing but are not ready to be harvested.
I lost all my spinach, it died on me so I am going to plant more. We ate the mesclun mix salad with dinner one night and the boys devoured it. They call salad "dinosaur food" and they couldn't wait to eat it, so I cut it down and we enjoyed it. Some of what was left over in the pot died and the rest of it is growing tall and now has flowers on it! I will also be planting more salad soon.
I really didn't think my garden would turn out to be as successful as it is. I am very proud of myself and I can't wait to get my hands on the first tomato, strawberry, radish, carrot and pea and taste the fruits of my labor! I absolutely have fallen in love with gardening. It is amazing to me when I go out everyday and see how big my tomatoes and pepper have gotten since the night before. I love seeing the strawberries popping up all over like crazy. It is like a dream come true for me. I have always wanted the ability to grow my own foods and be rewarded with success and now it has come true for me!!
I can't wait til the first tomato gets ripe enough to pick, I am hauling my butt to the store and getting some fresh mozzarella cheese and I am going to make my very first tomato, basil and mozzarella salad with fresh home grown tomatoes and basil from MY GARDEN!!! Oooohhhhhhhh, I am getting very excited!
Well gotta run now, take care all!

Hello all, I got my seeds today. I ordered a whole bunch of Basil seeds (different varieties) and my carrots (thumbelinas and little fingers) I am going out for the afternoon so I will probably plant them tomorrow. Everything else is going well. I thought it was going to rain last night (it looked like rain) but.....not a drop landed on my plants. I went out last night and watered the plants that needed it. Alot of my plants were dry and needed it but they are still alive and thriving. I can't wait to sink my teeth into my first home grown tomato. Take care all, Hugs to everyone.

Hello all, My garden is going great. Over the weekend I repotted my sunflowers, some of my tomato and herb plants. It seems I have to water just about every day now because it has been rather warm here. Some of the plants dry out so quickly. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I don't want to overwater but then again I don't want to be underwatering either. Anyway, the plants are thriving with things the way they are right now. Nothing is dying, not yet at least!! LOL
My boys want to plant carrotts (which they call crackets). I have ordered some carrott seeds for a few smaller varieties of them. I hope to have luck with them as well. Can't wait until I get them so I can start them. From what I read, I can sow the seeds every two weeks and keep the soil moving (to prevent freezing) during the winter and I will have carrotts all winter long. True????
My space is very very limited so I am trying to figure out how I am going to deal with my tomato plants when they get taller and the boys. My yard is so small and I can't put the boys outside in the front alone and I don't always have the time to stay out back with the boys when they are playing out there. I don't know how to deal with that just yet but I will think of something. I could try tomato cages but then I run the risk of the boys pulling off the greens and eating them. I could keep them up high.......that may not work either. I don't know what the heck to do. Any suggestions?
Well gotta run now. I am cooking dinner and don't want it to burn.
Take care all and hugs to all,
Jeanne

Gonna go out in the back and work on repotting some stuff that needs it while my boys are napping. My hubby pulled all the soil that I had out from storage and I am gonna get busy very soon. Take care, Jeanne

Morning all, Got up this morning and it is pouring outside. I hope the rain lets up soon because I don't want my plants to drown!!! I just gave them a little sprinkle yesterday when they were dry. Do you think they will drown out? I will check on them again in a little bit. If they look like they have had enough water, I will cover them up with plastic bags or something. I am really sad because I can't go outside and check on their progress today. I really enjoy checking on them everyday because I love seeing thei daily changes. Well gotta go, kids want breakfast. Byeeee!! Jeanne

Hi all, Just got done planting 4 garlic cloves. I have them in my windowsill for now. When it gets a little warmer, I will put them outside. Everything else is doing well except 1 basil plant. It is hung over the pot.....but it is still green and it does have baby leaves on it so I am trying to nurse it back to health. Maybe if I talk to it and promise it some chocolate, it will get up again. I would get up for chocolate, wouldn't you???? Take care all, Jeanne

It is going to be quite chilly tonight so I pulled all my basil plants in. I don't want what I have left to die off. I covered my tomato plants to keep them from the chill and everything else seems to be doing ok. Gonna go to bed now. G'nite all!! Jeanne

Hello all, I just checked my garden again (boys are taking nap!!) and guess what???? I have Grape Tomato and Basil Sprouts!! I pulled them inside and sat them on my windowsill because it is just a bit chilly today. I am so happy that I have managed to get sprouts from seeds. This is proof that I can grow something.
My husband jokes, when he sees me planting something he says I am creating another "Killing Field" because of my past attempts but this year I will make him eat his words when I serve him a fresh Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella salad with the freshest tomatoes and basil locally grown (in my own back yard) by G U E S S W H O ?? Raspberries on him!!

Good Morning All, Just checked my garden this morning and I found that some of my basil has passed on!! :( I have basil planted in another pot and that seems to be doing very well. I am not going to lose hope here. I just think I have absolutely no luck with basil!!! What am I doing wrong?? Oh well, I guess I will figure it out some day!! Anyway on to other news, my grape tomato seeds have just begun to sprout!! :D I almost fell to tears on the floor when I found that!!! I can actually grow tomatoes from seeds!!! The rest of my garden is doing very well as well. My sunflowers are getting prettier and prettier as each day passes. They arent really sunflowers yet but they are the prettiest sprouts I have ever seen. I can just tell that they are going to be really beautiful sunflowers!! Gotta run, coffee is done and I am not really awake yet. Take care all, Jeanne

Hello everybody, I checked my garden today and found 2 more Sunflowers coming up. I can't believe I have so much growing in my garden. And to think I planted my butt off last year and only managed to grow 6 cherry tomatoes. This year I have 2 tomato plants going (doing great), 2 basil plants (still hanging in there), 1 parsley plant, 1 sage plant, 1 thyme plant (all doing well), tons of mesclun mix salad growing, lots of spinach coming up and just last night I discovered 2 teeny tiny daisies are now coming up. I can't wait to get my hands on some colius plants. I just love colius, so colorful and very easy to care for. Then I can take the clippings and root them in water and have even more!! :) Gotta go, take care all. Jeanne

Hello, I was just checking my plants and I now have 8 Sunflowers!!! They are growing like wildfire. I have to get to Home Depot soon and invest in a really large pot to replant them in. I think I am going to give them another week where they are right now and then transplant them then. I can't wait to take pictures and post them to show everyone my garden progress!! :) Have a good night all. I have to go to bed now before it gets any later.
Take care! :)

Hello there, Just wanted to stop by quickly to let you know that this morning I checked my garden and I found 7 sunflowers sprouts, 2 daisy sprouts, tons of Mesclun Mix Salad, lots of Spinach, My Spring Flowers have sprung up, Tomato Plants are really growing, Dill has just begun to show herself and my Parsley is growing beautifully. My Basil, however, is hanging on by a thread, I am trying my best to nurse it back to health.
I can't believe I only managed to grow 6 Cherry Tomatoes last year and this year I have a bunch of stuff growing!!! Believe it or not, I didn't even know what sowing was last year. I have been keeping myself busy reading as much as I can about gardening vegetables and herbs, it has helped alot. The beginning of May I am going to a gardening class at our local Library. Hopefully it will be very informative and maybe I can learn more than I have from reading the books.
Take care all, Jeanne
