I expect that you folk in the USA enjoying your summer season have iris blooming or even finished. Ours are just coming on and I have had three plants with blooms so far and another one on the way. Given that today is the 10 July and we are in the middle of Winter they sure are a lovely surprise. Two were given to me by my cousin and I have identified them to the best of my ability as a heritage iris called "Rosy Wings". The standards and are pink and the falls nearly maroon and the shape of the petals are rather old fashioned and sparse compared to the new varieties that are around now. The other one to bloom has pink standards and mauvey pink falls with red beards. Certainly more frilly than "Rosy Wings" and as it was give to me also, I have tried to identify it too and the best I came up with was "Heather's Blush" as it was given to me by a friend called Heather. When I suggested that was why she had bought it - she said that she had no variety by that name and the other name I found this year is "Bon Appetit" Now that my new husband over two and a half years has become a Francophile like myself, he has decided it shall be called that name. I would post photos but I have been trying to post one in the photo caption game and even though I compressed it, the whole thing finally disappeared.
Are there any hints or rules as to the best way to add photos. I have some here in my profile but they were added by me some time ago and I will have to remember how to do it again.
This website is a godsend for company when it is 2 or 3am and I can't get to sleep.
Blessings to you all (if someone is reading this - my first blog)
Beth
